Site/Notification Update

I've made a few changes to the way the site operates and the way post notifications are made. I know everyone likes videos but in truth I do a lot of work that just isn't worthy of an entire video - thus the occasional delays between videos.

To bridge the gap I'll now be making short, frequent updates via Twitter - a feed of these updates is now available on the main www.lonelybot.com.

If you've subscribed to updates via email please note that you will ONLY get notifications when videos are posted, NOT of Twitter updates. If you wish to get Twitter AND video updates you'll need to subscribe via Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/LonelyBotcom.

Looking forward to a renewed pace on this project!  Expect a new video this week.

I'm Back From the Dead, New Trailer Bunks Built

After a several-month hiatus due to a move, I'm back in action.

Today I designed and installed new trailer support bunks to hold Lonelybot when it reaches it's full weight.  This is the last video about trailers, for real this time!

Propulsion Interface Completed!

Some of my least nerdy friends suggested some more details on how LonelyBot will actually work would be nice... which was surprising. Anyway, here it goes, hopefully I haven't swung the pendulum too far in the wrong direction!

In this video I'm showing off the completed propulsion command and telemetry interface. It uses a PIC16F747's UART and ADCs to control LonelyBots motor's via a serial link.

A combination of old and new video, the belt box gets finished by reworking the motors and installing the belts.

Pre-Maker Faire Post: Hull is Finished!!

Last week I rushed to finish the hull prior to the Maker Faire but was too busy to post video - this is the first of two posts from back in time.

The Maker Faire was a huge success, there was LOTS of interest in LonelyBot and I got to meet lots of very cool people.  Welcome to all our new mailing list members!

In this video I quickly complete all of the steps that took me two months to do on the last half of the hull, and give it a coat of paint for the show (I'm still deciding if the paint is going to be a long-term solution or not).
